Celebrity sweep

After three days of riots reclaimed hundreds of Londonernes streets Tuesday armed with brooms, bags, gloves, and a stop valves of stardust. Singer-songwriters Emmy large and Kate Nash was spotted in Westbourne Grove and Clapham, while Kaiser Chiefs sterling work South of the city gave them the nickname Kaiser Sweep. The campaign, cleanup, master-minded by Worthing-based artist Dan Thompson, drew also in Sam Duckworth of Get Cape. Wear Cape. Flight. The Twitter account that he launched, @ RiotCleanup, now has more than 87,000 fans.

Counting began in Sri Lankafirst elephant census in nearly a century. Conservation groups boycotting it, say it is really an attempt to identify healthy animals for use in tourism and heavy labour. Numbers, estimated at between 5,000 and 7,000, has fallen by two thirds since the last count.
